The school was very large, about a thousand children, and there was only one teacher-psychologist at that time

And they did?

No! I wrote an essay for 5, passed the history exam for 4 – but the competition was 10 people per seat, and then the young men who had served in the army had a privilege, they just had to not get a deuce, and they passed out of competition.

It was a terrible shock for me! My childhood was spent in the village, which, as I understand now, was very comfortable for the development of children: there was a dance studio, an ensemble, a gym, an equestrian sports complex, and many interesting activities and excellent teachers – in short, this there was a full-fledged infrastructure of childhood, which gave every child the opportunity to express themselves. So the situation of failure was very unexpected for me.

And I am very grateful to my parents who offered me to enter the wonderful pedagogical school in Beloretsk.

How do you remember this school?

We had wonderful teachers, we were surrounded by attention and care – and at the same time we learned to be independent. There were many interesting things – including professional practice.

I graduated from college with honors, passed exams for the 1st year of the Pedagogical Institute and immediately became a 2nd year student of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology. I also graduated from the institute with honors, received the specialty of a teacher of pedagogy and psychology, an educator – and returned to our municipal center.

Was it difficult to find a job in your specialty?

Highly. I went to kindergartens, I agreed to work as a nanny, I went around the circles of additional education … I will never forget how I came to school, where my work biography actually began. I accidentally found out that their counselor was leaving and offered to take me to her position.

The head teacher said that there was a psychologist’s job and asked if I wanted to work in my specialty. Actually, my pedagogical activity began with this.

The school was very large, about a thousand children, and there was only one teacher-psychologist at that time.

I was immediately given great guidance, and the class that everyone refused – 6 “B”. The load was enormous: work with children, with parents, extracurricular activities …

And you did it.

Yes, but it was difficult, of course. I will not paint a rosy picture that I, a young specialist, was welcomed with open arms – there were those who supported, those who were neutral, and there were also people who did not like my activity. It seems to me that nowadays young teachers are better received in schools.

But I gained the experience of teaching and the experience of a teacher-psychologist.

The Unified State Exam is Good or …

It is fashionable to scold the USE now, but I believe that it is a good and transparent assessment tool, and a lot has already been done to improve it. And we, and Rosobrnadzor, and the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia work with the regions, we listen to the opinions of teachers, parents, and I like the version of the exam that exists today.

Of course, when the USE was introduced, many were under stress – the new format raised many questions, psychologically schoolchildren and their parents were also not ready. And then – I was still the Deputy brutus tragic hero essay Prime Minister of Bashkortostan – my colleagues and I prepared brochures for the children, made a lecture hall for parents, offered to come and complete exam assignments to make sure that everything was within the school curriculum and there were no pitfalls. The effect was great!

And you shouldn’t be afraid of the USE, you need to continue to instill a culture of such certification. It’s easy to understand that the officially recorded scores make it possible to find out the level of knowledge of each student. This system works successfully all over the world.

Who should prepare for the exam: school, family, tutors?

School, of course! I am very worried about the huge “black market” of tutoring in preparation for the exam. And many families with high school children are willing to pay huge sums of money for this training.

In fact, the USE should become an indicator of the quality of school teachers’ work. It is they who must give good solid knowledge that will allow the children to pass the certification calmly.

If you yourself were now taking the exam, what subjects would you choose?

In addition to the required exams in Russian and mathematics, I would choose history and a foreign language.

History – because I love it very much, I have always been fascinated by this subject. And a foreign language – to “immerse” in it, mobilize your knowledge and prepare perfectly well.

What do you think the school should be?

Kind and safe. School should be a second home, no matter how trite it may sound.

Children should be happy to come there. It should be a large family that teaches, is able to understand and accept, can correct mistakes and help prepare for adulthood.

School should not only be a source of knowledge, although this is certainly important, it should be a certain foundation for a person, it should have a special microclimate, respect for teachers – Teachers with a capital letter.

What would you wish modern schoolchildren, their parents and teachers?

I want to say to the guys the same thing that I say to my daughter: there is always work behind any success. Your main work is study. So do not be lazy, you need to study and understand that this is what your future life is behind.

I wish the parents the same as I spoke about at my first meeting – love for their children, communication with them, desire and ability to support children.

And for teachers – so that the school continues to be the center of attraction for knowledge, so that the cult of the teacher and respect for his work are formed here.

Yes, we have many problems, but we need to solve them together, listen to each other, then everything will work out. We are a unique country, we have a huge scientific potential and a whole army of talented teachers. We need to appreciate and support them.

Before coming to school, did you have an idea of practical pedagogy?

Of course. We are not even talking about practice at a school and at an institute – my mother worked for a long time in the preschool education system. We often had children at home, whom their parents did not have time to pick up, my mother constantly worked out classes for me and my sister, which she then conducted in her group … So practical pedagogy was close and understandable to me.

But it was much more difficult to start the work of a teacher-psychologist.

Why?

The fact is that practical psychology in our country is just beginning to develop, and at school the attitude towards it is very ambiguous.

Or they say: “Oh, my child see a psychologist – is he a nutcase?” Or, conversely, they believe that after 10 minutes of talking with a psychologist, the child will immediately begin to study perfectly well, stop skipping school, etc. As you can imagine, this is impossible.

How did you manage to overcome these stereotypes?

I was only 21 years old, I was quite decisive, energetic, I read a lot of special literature, analyzed it, plus a certain inner instinct – all this helped me to find some leverage to establish my work.

For the first time, we began to do specialized classes at the school: humanitarian, mathematical, natural science. I conducted a parental lecture in all parallels, conducted individual consultations.

I have always remembered the theme of my first parent meeting – “Love your children”.

I prepared for it very carefully, and came to the conclusion that the main omission of the pedagogy of the Soviet period was the approach when children were not praised.

They did a lot of work with them, they made serious demands, but achievements were perceived as the norm, it was not accepted to praise.

At the first meeting, I told how important it is to explain to children that parents are their friends, how important it is to hug, pat the child on the head in time, do everything so that he is ready to share his problems. And I ended with advices: love your children, tell them about your love, find an opportunity to show this love.

How did the parents react?

They listened. I think that everyone in one way or another projected what I said on their child, on their family, thinking about the fact that we talk little with children about love and care.

It seems to me that I did all this for a reason – there was an effect from my work. There were many individual consultations, we tried to help everyone. In general, the work of a psychologist is a huge work, which today, unfortunately, is not clearly regulated in our country. There is no instant result, I will emphasize once again: today we especially need such specialists. Including in schools.

You have repeatedly said that teachers-psychologists in schools are an urgent need, that it is necessary to revise the standards for training teachers and give them a certain set of knowledge and skills of psychologists …
